Big Sam - Shock
Of course it’s as big a shock for me as for all you that the manager Big Sam has departured the club. We have absolutely not done badly this season and with victory against Bolton yesterday we would have been in a very comfortable sixth place. And the table situation does not reflect on how our performance has been in this year’s Premier League season. But this is the football game and the new owners want new ideas into the club. Therefore, I hope, and expect that the new manager is someone who is skilled enough and prolific enough to take us one step further. In Blackburn Rovers, we are all professionals and will of course continue to work very hard to bring the club further, and will of course welcome a new manager. To Big Sam, I want to thank him for our cooperation and wish him continued success in his career.

You’re a good man Morten! I bet this is masking a lot of anger and disbelief?! I thought he was a great manager and I for one am extremely shocked at his departure. I hope they have thought this through because if they haven’t then we are in trouble

I’m gutted by this decision. Morten did the players have any idea what was going on? Who do you think will get the job? I hope we win our next few games or Venkys will be hated by the fans. Hope the players stay loyal to the club though and don’t follow Big Sam out the door. Are you at the Disabled Supporters Christmas Party tonight? x
If you see him tomorrow Morten will you please say that we are eternally grateful for keeping us afloat, there was a time when he stepped in and we were heading in the wrong direction and he steered the boat around and back to safe water.
He had very little money to spend in football terms and he pulled it off with no little skill.
I, personally, will miss him greatly.
I think the new owner wanted a proven manger to bring the club forward and clearly their choice is not Sam. But The Roa family must also invest money in the team to rest assure the fans that they are genuinely serious of taking this club a new height. I am just very sad that Sam wasnt given a chance to prove his worth, he simply “gone too soon”.
Devastating news, and totally unexpected.. One can only think they have someone lined up to come in very quickly.
Keep up the good work Morten, I just hope this doesn’t knock the lads too badly and we give WHU a pasting on Saturday
Shocked to say the least!! Did not see this coming at all. Who’s gonna replace big sam? i thought he did great considering we were near enough relegated. The indian’s better bring in someone decent! I say bring back sparky.
Who comes in to replace Sam will be the key, if its a Martin Jol or Martin O’neill Venkys will have to give them serious spending power to tempt them to come to Blackburn, which i sadly dont think will happen. Instead more likely to be a Dave Jones, Ian Holloway type on less money and told to play better football with a very limited budget
4th best in the form table… Very disappointed and very shocked. Will judge the decision in a couple of months I guess… Good luck for the Christmas period, I’m sure this won’t affect you as professionals but it can’t be the most helpful of situations. Onwards and upwards, eh

En skikkelig gladnyhet for min del. Kanskje Blackburn-spillerne får lov å gjøre annet enn å dundre ballen frem å håpe på det beste. Årets Blackburn har vært en totalskuffelse, ikke pga resultatene, men spillemåten.

I’m grateful with what Sam did for us over the past couple of seasons and I always felt were were in safe hands. We’re in a period of uncertainty now and it’s time for some assurance by Venky’s.
I still think this was ill-timed, but I’m sure Morten and co. will focus on the results end of things on the pitch
Fatter ikke hva de Indierne tenker med. Tror ikke det finnes en bedre taktikker enn Sam i verden. Hadde en hvilken som helst annen manager tatt over etter Paul Ince, så ville du ha spilt for en annen klubb nå Morten, og Rovers i The Wankership. At Rovers spiller en fotball som ikke begeistrer så veldig mange, er sant. Men skal vi spille som Barca med den spillerstallen vi har? Phil Jones som ER midtstopper, og som ALLTID vil være en midtstopper har spilt nesten samtlige kamper som sentral anker på midtbanen i år. Det sier vel sitt om bredden i stallen til Rovers, selv om Jones har gjort sine saker meget bra.
Sam har allerede begynt å planlegge Januar vinduet med N’Zogbia, Santa, Bentley, Keane, Osvaldo samt flere som er linket. Så blir han sparket før han for første gang i Rovers karrieren kan begynne å bruke penger? Snakk om amatørmessig. Sam hadde fortjent en bedre skjebne.
Og hvem i all verden ønsker å ta over Rovers når det er eierne som skal ha siste ordet når det gjelder kjøp og salg av spillere?
Håper på fult hus mot The Hammers, hvor samtlige, inkludert Hammers fans, viser sin misnøye med de nye udugelige skrapet til eiere, og samtidig hyller Big Fat Sam.
Bra blogg forresten, og lykke til med resten av sesongen. Bra start for deg og laget så langt, fortsett å pøse på, så vil flaksen i jevne kamper ende vår vei til slutt.

Wasn’t it Sam who started you playing in a more central role? Do you think you will stay in that area or move back to the left side when the new skipper comes in? Wow, so many questions. This stinks! I was a big fan of Big Sam, and I think the board has acted way too hastily. He will always be remembered fondly by the fans, at least the smart ones!! Good luck to him, and I hope they appoint someone who treats you guys well and can guide us into Europe!! All the best, COME ON YOU ROVERS!

Comon Sam isnt bad. he’s done well for the amount of money he’s had to spend. just hope these new owners know what they are doing:/ feel sorry for players but hope they keep their heads down and working hard for saturdays game:) good luck:) x
I admire your professionalism and we need it more than ever now. I have watched rovers for 47 years and seen many comings and goings we all need to stick together. Big Sam did so much and I am sorry to see him go, however the club is bigger than any of us so here is hoping the new owners now show they know what they are doing and silence doubters like me! good luck saturday dave h

still reeling big sam deserved better the club dont know how good he has been 4 us.however the show must go on so its up 2 us supporters 2 lift the players on saturday so lets pull together on saturday the darwin end will be in full voice

The stupidity of this decision is almost beyond belief. This doesn’t augur well for the team’s prospects this season. At the very least, it is bound to be counter-productive in the short-term. I wish you well Morten, and hope that you and Ryan and the boys can somehow rise above this travesty. Good luck Sam. You did a great job.

Very noble and well spoken Morten, you’re a great ambassador for this club and have become very adept at PR. Especially in this, you have backed Big Sam while at the same time supporting Venky’s decision. I hope you are one who is kept on by whoever takes over and that you stay with us for as long as you can play at Premier League level for.
Well said Morten it was a complete shock for me to the new owners must an ace to play in this game or we will be in deep trouble I am sure all you guts down at Brock will rally around eachother and win a few more games for Big Sam I’ve met him on a number of occasions and he is very nice bloke personally I am sure he is a complete different character on the training pitch and in the dressing room.
Anyway life goes on- it has to:) on another note I agree you should give tips about food at San Carlo it’s meant to be really nice and dispite working in Manchester I’ve never been, have you tried out there other restaurant across the road Morten. And have you tried Bem Brasil??
Enig med deg Gamst. Dette er nok ett slag i trynet for 90% av oss som holder med Blackburn. Jeg støtter også tanken din med å få inn en profilert og dyktig manager, hvor store navn vil ønske å spille for Blackburn Rovers. Om man ser fremover kan dette fort bli en ny æra for Rovers.

Mye rykter som går nå Jol, Maradona, Hugthon etc. Bare dere spillere spiller bra hver helg fremover, og følger Kean sin taktikk blir det fort en god plassering. Det viktigste er å vise at Blackburn er et Premier League-lag både med og uten Big Sam!

Gripper - Obviously you are entiltled to your own opinion however remarks of such nature should be kept to yourself. Morten always shows professionalism on and off the field and his work rate is phenominal.
I’m sorry, but Venky’s press release regarding Sam’s sacking is absolutley ridiculous and hypocriticial.

Sam Allardyce has done so much good for this club and had set the same goals for Blackburn’s future. Venky’s had every right to release Big Sam, but no right to disrespect his credibility… I’ll be jealous of the next club that takes him… Would love to have him coach Australia for the 2014 world cup.
