Morten Gamst Pedersen re-signs with Blackburn (download)

Q: Why did it take you so long to consider Blackburn’s offer?

A: There’s been a lot of speculation about me going elsewhere but Blackburn always was my first choice. It’s been a time consuming process for both parties but there was never any drama or hard feelings involved. We’ve always been on good terms, it just has taken a little longer than expected. I’m pleased and very proud to re-sign with Blackburn and I look forward to another 4 years and new challenges with the club.

Q: Why was Blackburn your first choice?

A: There aren’t many footballers who get the opportunity to stay with one Premier League club for 10 years. I did and I want to honour that. I feel devoted to Blackburn and the team. I’ve been with Blackburn for 6 years now, during that time I’ve experienced ups and downs, high and lows but I’ve always felt appreciated and the club has great supporters. Those are factors that I value highly and they make me want to go that extra mile.

Looking forward, Blackburn will have an interesting mix of young talent and experienced players this upcoming season. I want to be a part of that. I’m also hoping for a chance at Europe again.

Q: How have you developed as a footballer during your time with Blackburn?

Tremendously! Premier League football is extremely challenging not only physically but also mentally. The level of quality is high. You have to develop continuously as a footballer as well as a person in order to stay competitive.

Q: Expectations and hopes for the next 4 years with Blackburn?

Our manager is one of the top managers in Britain. I’m confident that he will build a team that can be competitive in the Premier League. Anything can happen, Fulham was the perfect example of that when reaching the final in the Europa League this season. I am confident our manager will bring us up to the level where we can compete for a spot in the Europa League.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal may be the big four clubs but Manchester City, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Everton are all challengers for a Champions League spot. This shows the strength of Premier League football.

Q: You have recently launched a website and blog, why?

This is a new and very exciting thing for me. Through my blog and website I’m able to tell the story from my viewpoint. It is a great way for me to reach out to a broader audience.

Q: Where did you get the idea?

This is something I’ve talked with my friends about for a few years and last summer we decided to go through with it. Working with Adidas on the Predator commercial, I got to know Henrik Johansson at the Viral Company in Sweden who did the commercial. I was really impressed with their work and knew then that they were the guys that should build my site.

Q: Who do you expect will read your blog?

Hopefully as many as possible! Most people know me as footballer and I recon most visitors have an interest in football. But everybody is more than welcome to visit my website.

Q: What will you write about?

My life as a footballer will be the main subject, but I will also write about my life in general. I travel a lot so I hope I can write some interesting stories about my trips. I will try to make this website interesting to as many people as possible, not only to the football family.
